A story about a strong woman

I would like to share a story about a strong woman, who has been with us at Vector Health and Performance for a long time now.  I met Krishelle when she was 18 years old.  She was not really into anything that was exercise then. Her then manager brought her along to try to help her with her health and fitness.

How times change. Now Krishelle likes coming to the gym. She has competed at several powerlifting contests and she is developing into an accomplished lifter.  She can squat 110kg, bench press 75kg and deadlift 150kg, so she does not muck around!

I will let Krishelle tell her story in a quote below and I have attached a link to an article that Krishelle wrote on her blog to read as well.

Hey! I’m Krishelle!

For me, strength training started with my discovery that I had super strong legs and could leg press a pretty awesome amount of weight. I loved the feeling after pressing the heavy weight so I decided to try powerlifting to see if it could help me improve how I was feeling emotionally and mentally. It has helped me, in fact, it’ is now my main treatment for my mental health. I feel so much more confident and happy in my body.

My powerlifting community starts at vector health with a team of powerlifters who are so supportive and encouraging. Even though it’s a solo sport, the community is so empowering and there is often healthy competition. Ideally it’s all about being better than the person you were yesterday and everyone is behind you, helping you get there. (Also if we’re being honest, #powerlifters and #girlswhopowerlift gets you hella likes on Instagram, just saying).

The article that Krishelle wrote after her first powerlifting contest is here

It is such a great article about the power of mental strength and what training has done to develop Krishelle mentally, just as much as physically.
