Do you dream of becoming a Diamond

Is it your dream to play for the Firebirds, or the Diamonds in netball?  What will it take for you to do this?

Being at the top in netball is a massive achievement.  There is one person per position in a netball side.  This means that to play a lot of game time, you have to be the best at your position, hands down.  Not in the top three, just the best.

So, how do you do that?  If you look at the athletes who are currently in the top level of netball, the one thing that I will say is that the physical attributes of a netball player have changed unbelievably.  They are fitter, faster, stronger and more powerful than ever before and the drive for physical performance is just growing.  They are mentally tough, and sustain an extremely high level of skill under massive pressure over weeks and months of competition.

So, as a young netball player, if you want to succeed and you have a dream of playing at the highest level, then you have to start working on your physical and mental development and NEVER STOP!

This means doing extra when others will want to sit down and talk.  This means doing everything better, and always looking for improvement in yourself as a player.  You need to continue to grow physically, mentally and then as a player who stands out in a crowd and makes coaches, spectators and selectors really sit up and take notice.   You do NOT need to be the Australian U15 or U17 captain to play for the Diamonds.  Some develop early and some do not.  Stay patient and keep achieving goals you set.

Vector Health has an opportunity for 8 girls over the age of 14 years of age to be coached specifically in a netball specific program to develop your physical and mental being.  We have an opportunity for 8 girls under the age of 14 years of age, who want to start to develop your netball physical and mental conditioning.  The program starts in Term 4 and will run for an 8 week block of training.  We are specifically looking for athletes who have a massive amount of desire or motivation to be better, but just do not know how to do that.  We are looking for girls and young women who are prepared to be outside of their comfort zone to achieve massive personal success over an 8 week period.

I am personally really looking forward to starting this program with 16 highly motivated girls. We have 4 girls already in this program who will join into the bigger program.  We are aiming to set some benchmarks for the following physical qualities:

1. Yo Yo Test (Fitness)

2. 10 and 20m Speed test

3. 505 Agility Test and Netball Specific Agility Test

4. Lower Body strength test – pistol squat for younger athletes and squat test for older athletes

5. Upper Body Strength – Push Up in 30seconds

6. Vertical and Horizontal Power Testing (jump height and distance)

7. 3-hop test for distance test
