Resistance training: a scientifically proven method of treatment for depression!
Depression is a sad reality of human existence with most of us suffering with symptoms at one time or another during our lifetimes.
But good news this year was released in the form of a meta analysis and meta regression, a very high form of scientific evidence.
The authors reviewed 33 clinical trials which included over 1877 subjects. Each looking at the effectiveness of resistance training on depressive symptoms.
The overwhelming conclusion was that resistance training significantly reduces symptoms of depression. Whats more, it made no difference how much you did or if you only got just a little bit stronger. Still a big effect!
So doing just a little bit of training with weights can make a big difference.
